standing tall | 3 | Bruce Dorset | Unusual pose to see in this Heron, composition is great with good placement of the bird the colours in the feathers have come through nicely. The background and your cropping has been handled well. Shame your image is a bit soft. Merit |
do you mind | 5 | Bruce Dorset | Great shot the birds having an almost comical look on their faces. Background and the positioning of the Gannets are just right. There is a bit of blowout in the whites of the feathers not allowing seeing all feather detail. Highly Commended |
The Kite Flyer | 3 | Michael Sullivan | You have a nice bright image with strong colours and a great story line. You have cropped this pretty tight it really did need a bit more space. Shame about the bright flowers top right and top left these are a bit of a distraction, I'm finding my eye is wondering to look at these. However your image is nice and sharp. Merit |
Jockey At Work | 3 | Michael Sullivan | You have captured this guys workplace really well and he's sharp as he's heading off for his ride. However you have cropped it too tightly. You really needed to be able to see the rest of the boot and it's a shame we couldn't see a bit more of the horse and perhaps where it was heading. One judge suggested decreasing your Depth of Field to blur the background more. Merit |
clickers club meeting | 3 | Judy Dorset | A humorous title to this image, it looks like an interesting place to visit. Maybe a camera placed with one of these models would have added to this story. A crop on the left to the edge of the tree would have taken care of the empty space that's not adding to the image. Merit |
Dune Climb | 3 | Noel Herman | A landscape of two colours. There is a story to this image. The foot prints are telling us something. One person's made it to the top and the others have said I've gone far enough. Nice leading line of the dune going across and down the hill. Stunning colour of the sand shame it's not sharp. Merit |
Fountains Abbey | 7 | Stacey Townsend | You have chosen an old building with the sun streaming in and spreading the light up into the beams. This photographer has a great eye to see this picture here. Monochrome makes the image, there is some definition lost in the highlights areas the use of a grad filter would help. However you have a stunning image and a worthy. Honours. |
A Spring In An Autumn Step | 3 | Stacey Townsend | Spring is in the air for sure. Nice autumn colours with some action as well, the little boy looks like he is having fun. However the processing in this image is just a little strong and there is too much out of focus in the foreground, your eye keeps going to the green buoy in the background by the lamppost. You could turn this image into a portrait image by cropping both sides. Try cropping to the tree on the right, take out the post on the left also a crop off the bottom to the tree shadow this would take away the distractions and turn this image into a much stronger image. Merit |
Starling With Winter Plumage | 3 | Noel Herman | What great colours this bird has making him very interesting. A colourful close up. Image cropped nicely it has a nice light in the eye, the background is nicely out of focus, also your depth of field is handled well. The green leaves you can't crop out, but a bit of a tidy up would have made a difference, a crop off the bottom and a small crop off the top taking out the out of focus branch will help to tidy the up the image it is a bit soft but a well caught bird. Merit |
Looking Back | 5 | Barbara Herman | This guy heard you raising your camera. What a pose to capture. Nice colouring throughout this image. Looking very natural. Eyes are dark. Front leg is just showing, A sharp image giving us some humour - Look at me!! Well done. Highly Commended |
Okavango Sunset | 5 | Barbara Herman | Lovely natural colours in this image showing its best side; it is a stunning colourful sunset, oh to be there. The image is showing a bit noisy in the elephants. Maybe it needs a little more sharpening but keeping the foreground in the darker tones. Highly Commended |
Baron Dragonfly | 7 | Aaron Skelton | A fantastic sharp image, it's fabulous what else is there to say. Honours |
Golden eye | 7 | Aaron Skelton | Another fab image, so much great detail and sharp eye. Honours |
Old Friends | 5 | Doug Stewart | Happy loved friends - aren't they just lovely. Their faces and eyes are sharp and it has been well-captured and the image has been cropped nicely. There's good detail in the dogs coats, however the eye keeps going to the little bit of red at the top left. It may be worth trying to tone it down. Both smiling and looking at the camera. Highly Commended |
Dusty Work | 5 | Doug Stewart | This is an interesting image even though its mostly white and your eye travels around to find the picture. You have a simple shot telling a story. The background has been handled well with no distractions. Highly Commended |
After The Race | 3 | Margaret Hooper | This image has been cropped nicely and the yacht has plenty of room to move into. A big smiley face up the mask - does this say we won? No one is looking at the photographer just minding their business. Merit |
The Flowers | 5 | Margaret Hooper | This is a lovely clean sharp image. Nice presentation of this flower, keeping it simple with minimal colours. Vase is lost in the white back ground, but well done. I can see some white edging missing in the corners and a couple of black spots. The border perhaps could be a little bit smaller. A lovely set of flowers well placed in the vase. It is sharp throughout. No distractions in the flowers so not to dominate the image. Highly Commended |
Practice on the Beach | 3 | Ruth Mooney | The image does portray a story with the title revealing its start. However there is not enough focus on the subjects this could be improved by cropping some off the right hand side as your eyes are inclined stray to the water. Merit |
Life in Harlong Bay | 5 | Ruth Mooney | What an interesting location this is. You have achieved good depth of field and plenty to look at. The main focus is on the people and the home on the raft. The cliffs are beautiful to look at but there is a lot in this image, perhaps if you took out some of the cliffs both sides and bring the top down this would then bring your focus right into the people and their living conditions on the water. However you deserve a Highly Commended. |
Female Anemone About to Spawn | 5 | Jack Horlock | You have captured a live creature in all its glory, well done. Love the colours and it is a nice sharp image. Well done. However the ones at the top hold the photos together. The bottom left has that uninteresting blob crop the left side to remove it there is still a lot of interest in the main part of the image. Highly Commended |
Blue Eye Triple Fin | 5 | Jack Horlock | This under water image is so colourful, and you have captured this fish well. The image has a nice balance to it. The background has been handled well and the eye stands out quite well. But it would have been good to see what's on the seabed. As it is presented there is a bit too much out of focus at the bottom, try taking some of this out and some off the right-hand side. This then takes your eye right into the eye of your fish. Highly Commended |
Drying Off | 3 | Christine Anderson | These birds are so captivating as they sit and dry out. Your image nicely cropped and has a good balance. I wonder if it has been a little over processed as noise showing in the bird. Clone out of some of the distracting white bits in the water on the right would have made a difference to your image; unfortunately it is a bit soft you really needed to use a faster shutter speed. Merit |
Italian Memories | 7 | Christine Anderson | The colours in this image are really striking they complement each other well. There is a nice balance. The image is nice and sharp and you have chosen a great background colour. A very well deserved Honour |
Are you looking at me? | 3 | Phillip Shaw | I guess he is looking at you at least with one eye. I like the way you have left some of the bigger picture in the image that adds a little more interest. However there is bit too much it could do with a bit of a crop from the top to draw your eye more into the head. Merit |
No Photos Please! | 3 | Phillip Shaw | Yes the hand is saying something - it tells a good story. You have got your image on a good angle and have a good depth of field keeping the hand in focus and the head blurred so well done for that. Merit |
Heading for the Crossing | 7 | Pamela Stephen | You have a great landscape image. The colours are really adding to the feel of the place. There's a rainbow there at the right time for you. Love the colours of the tussock grass. This shows a good leading line which is carried on by the rainbow. However you have a black line at the bottom that needs attention by cropping out. (You won't see this on a black screen.) Honours |
Bloom | 3 | Pamela Stephen | The softness of this image works quite well. The old flower head in the back could have been toned down a tad so it doesn't dominate the image. However the light streak at the top is distracting this needed to be cloned out. Merit |
Withered Beauty | 7 | Natascha Wilson | A very striking colourful shot its sharp where it needs to be. Good depth of field. Well-earned Honours |
Crash Landing | 1 | Mark Anderson | Well spotted seeing this image. Lovely colours, its nice and sharp. A cropping out of the sky would make a stronger image. Accepted |
Skink | 1 | Mark Anderson | Nicely in focus a Skink with a very natural surroundings. Subject Is nice and sharp. Well done for capturing these fast little blighters. However there is a bit too much out-of-focus in the background. A crop from the left to remove the shadow and some off the top would bring your eye to just focusing on the skink, then you would have a very strong image. Accepted |
Bridge Reflecting_M | 5 | Rose Tantau | The monochromatic treatment suits this image. The photo has been handled well and really stands out, keeping your eye to the centre before moving around the image. Highly Commended |
How Long Have I Been Here_M | 1 | Rose Tantau | Black and white suits this image, bringing out the sharp detail and contrast. Accepted |
Are you my mother? | 5 | Karen Newton | Great catch of this mother and her offspring. Good detail and nice sharpness good depth of field. Love how the chick is looking up at its mother. Highly Commended |
Poppy | 7 | Karen Newton | Your image is beautifully in focus and well taken. The colours are so natural showing off this poppy head. The colours complement each other, simple and colourful with nature working its magic. Honours |
