one side to the other | 3 | Bruce Dorset | You must have been on a boat to get this shot; good title and nicely composed there are lovely reflections of the rails in the water. One judge suggested perhaps a crop from the right up to the bridge in the distance uprights to take out the busyness of scaffolding against the railings this doesn't take out the interest of the people walking and the water reflections. ----Merit |
On the Harbour boating | 3 | Michael Sullivan | It looks a lovely day to be out on the water. You have the yacht on the third to show it has plenty of room to sail into. Depth Of field is good, the image sharp however not sure what has happened on the left side edge there is a line you need a small crop on the left to remove the overlap. ---Merit |
Cave Reflections | 3 | Michael Sullivan | A very nice image this has been taken under difficult lighting conditions. Reflections are sharp & the light picks up the Lovely details in the rocks which give's depth to the cave this has worked well in monochrome and the image is nicely in focus throughout. ----Merit |
smile | 3 | Bruce Dorset | Lovely image of someone's pet thoroughly enjoying himself on the beach, background is well done. It is composed with good depth of field bringing all the attention to the dog and its goofy smile. No distractions in this image. ----Merit |
A place to park the bike | 3 | Ruth Mooney | A well seen simple image with nice colours, however it a shame that the left hand top flower basket is missing its hook, this needed to be included or you could crop out that basket. I'm guessing you didn't notice it when pressing the shutter you just saw three baskets. You have space on the right hand side some of this could have been taken out, perhaps taking out the light missing paint as your eye will always find the lightest part this would also take the very dirty one lower down. A well spotted opportunity. ----Merit |
In the Dunes | 5 | Ruth Mooney | A Great wild dune scape it's all about textures it's well composed, love the atmosphere. The log draws the eye to its cross grain then takes you to the textures shadows and sand. Well seen and composed. ----Highly Commended |
Looking Up | 5 | Stacey Townsend | An interesting perspective image, the windows provide the leading lines to the top. Certainly looking up and you captured the bird flying through as well. The green frames encourage the eye to look about the image. ----Highly Commended |
Tall Tulip Syndrome | 3 | Stacey Townsend | The depth of field in the image has been handled well beautiful colour. The tall tulip is nicely positioned in the frame. The background has been nicely blurred but the highlights in it are distracting. You could try to remove some by cloning; also it could do with a slight straighten.-Merit |
Chubby Pigeon | 7 | Noel Herman | Another image to make you smile its well composed has good depth of field, nice bright eye. Lots of good feather detail and the image is sharp. ----Honours |
Toadstool | 7 | Noel Herman | This is a clever image almost expecting a leprechaun or fairy in the background, lovely lighting bringing up the detail. The image has been taken at an interesting angle, there's sharp detail and the back ground not too blurred which shows the environment you also have good depth of field. You have captured a great angle looking up under the Toad stool. However you do have a couple of distractions they are the tiny bit of the other toadstool and the stick going across the image on the left. These distractions needed to be cloned out. ----Honours |
24 Hours From Full | 7 | Jack Horlock | An image that you can keep looking at to see the colours and shapes within it has been nicely focused and it's sharp. You get lost in a very good way in all the beautiful detail captured in this image. The meteorite on the top right happily acts as a focal point. A very well deserved ----Honours |
Hunting King Fish | 5 | Jack Horlock | Lovely colours and detail, great capture, good exposure & composition. We have some tricky questions with this entry, while you are viewing see how you get on then the photographer can reveal all. The Three judges saw different aspects! One judge would like a title to indicate what type of fish? Then we have no reflections in the glass? Then blue light/window, tends to detract, some cloning would fix it? Patches of orange top left, crop or clone out the orange bits? You had to be under water for this? Well done you have gained a ----Highly Commended. |
Otis | 5 | Karen Newton | A Beautiful Baby portrait, with the focus right where it needs to be. However the left clasp is a distraction you need to crop just past the clasp on the left. That would help keep your eye centred onto the lovely exquisite detail in the face and the blanket. The B/W treatment gives this image a soft dreamy feel. ----Highly Commended |
Mr Tui | 7 | Karen Newton | Great focus and bright eye, love that you have captured all the lovely colour feather detail in this bird. The back ground is a tad bright giving it an unnatural colour. The image is well composed with the bird at an angle across the image. ----Honours |
Riverside | 3 | Doug Stewart | Just as you would imagine a riverside to look, with lovely reflections and all the Grandness of bush the image is nice and sharp and beautiful colours. ----Merit |
FlyingToWork | 7 | Doug Stewart | There is a nice story in this collage of helicopter images. This is a great idea for our self-assignment competition. It's very interesting and there's lots to look at, balanced nicely love the collage arrangement. The background colour nicely complements the images the second photo is not as strong and is obscured by bottom image. A worthy ----Honours |
o87iSurf'sUp | 3 | Christine Anderson | Waves at the beach are very memorising there's lots of action in the breaking waves. Unfortunately the image is too dark it needs to be lightened an adjustment in levels makes a huge difference it brings out the blues in the sky and the beautiful green in the water, levels if you have them and also straighten it, the tide is going down to the right. ----Merit |
o87iMother'sDay | 5 | Christine Anderson | What a lucky Mum, with this image telling a nice family story. The vase and colours really pop against the flowers and a lovely card. What else could a Mum want? It's a nicely balanced image but it could do with cloning out the white spots on the right of the table. ----Highly Commended |
Early Morning Fog | 1 | Rose Tantau | You have captured the fog nicely flowing across the field with the house in the background giving this image some interest. Something about the sky for early morning seems so bright and unnatural. The tree on the right is a distraction. A Good Crop of the sky and the tree on the right would hold your eye to the morning fog. ----Acceptance |
Grimy | 3 | Rose Tantau | Grimy Treasures what a find, the balance of the three are positioned well. It has been taken at an interesting angle. Good exposure, with good depth of field. ----Merit |
Blimey | 7 | Margaret Hooper | He's cute. Another image to make you smile and well titled, the arm on the head does it. It is a good composition with nice bright colours. The border holds it all together with perfect colour combinations and frame. It would look good in any child's bedroom. ----Honours |
Just A Rose | 5 | Margaret Hooper | A beautiful sharp image of this Rose the background has been handled well. Love the colours and central composition. ----Highly Commended |
I'm Ready | 5 | Barbara Herman | The dog's expression says it all. Great capture the eyes are sharp and the connection to the photographer with the pleading look says it all, feed me or take me for a walk. --Highly Commended |
Twins or Lovers? | 5 | Barbara Herman | This is a nice image balanced well. The bokeh light is handled well and frames the lovers. ----Highly Commended |
o52i_EyeToEye | 7 | Craig McCormick | Wow! Love the colours of this image. What a nice head shot of this parrot with good depth of field.. The central feathers and eye are sharp. There is also great reflection in the eye. ----Honours |
o52i_LikeAVeil | 1 | Craig McCormick | This is a very good attempt at slowing down the fall of the water. Unfortunately the image is blown out at the bottom of the veil there also a are lot of background distractions these are easily missed when taking this type of image that’s a shame. ----Acceptance |
Make a wish | 7 | Natascha Wilson | There are lots of wishes here. This is a great angle having the stem coming from the corner, and it's cropped nicely. The sepia colouring is making it look very natural. It's a simple but an effective image. ----Honours |
Castle Window | 7 | Pamela Stephen | Simple and very effective it has been taken on an interesting angle with your eye looking through the window. Makes me want to know what else is out that window. The contrast of the bricks against the grey stone emphasises the beautiful shape of the window. Beautiful details in the wall, bricks and view. This image has been nicely composed and a great composition. A very worthy----Honours |
Family Unit | 7 | Pamela Stephen | You have chosen a great title and your image comes with a very good depth of field. You have captured a great composition in this pose. Good detail in the feathers from proud Dad to protective Mum and chicks sheltering under the wing. There are lovely bright colours with a contrast background. This is a cracker shot and a well-earned ---- Honours |
