Bold Blooms. MERIT The white in the top left image leads the eye out of the frame. This could have been turned so that both white corners lead into the centre. The water lilies seem to be out of place and the set may have been stronger with the three dahlia images.

Come Fly With Me. MERIT A great depiction of these moving vehicles. The label on the front grabs and holds the viewer’s attention. The images are bight and clean, and tie together into a nicely balanced set.

Medford Quay Sunset, HONOURS A beautiful set of images that are nicely presented. The top left image, with no sun flare, grabs the attention and invites the viewer into the other images. The set shows four unique visions of the sunset from this beautiful location

Harbour Bridge. MERIT The presentation is good. The set evokes a nostalgic feeling of olde Auckland. Possible from film, with digitisation causing a loss of quality in all the images. Not enough images to tell the whole story.

Aussie Rocks. HIGHLY COMMENDED We like the way the set has been printed with the black boarders inviting you into each image. The top two images feel a bit tightly cropped and you lose their sense of grand scale. The colours and shadows show the rock textures well and invite the viewer to wander through the details in the images. Al together a well balanced set.

Gibbs Sculpture Farm. HIGHLY COMMENDED We liked the background and boarders that give this set a well balanced layout. It would have been a stronger set if the bottom left image had been a sculpture rather than a water feature. The sky in the bottom right images has not been blended within the sculpture, leaving stark white stripes that catch the eye. The people in the images show the grand scale of these sculptures.

The Big Five. HONOURS We loved the natural colouring of the animals in the wild, with focus good through all of the images. We had mixed feelings about the decorated background. We liked the effect of the animals in the four corners were looking into the centre, with the central lion looking at the viewer.

Play All The Songs. HIGHLY COMMENDED The photographer has captured the dark and moody atmosphere well, the faces are clear but with a soft focus and there is good connection with all the musicians. The presentation has let the set down, with it being oversized and the framing has warped slightly. The colours, tones and atmosphere of the images blend well into a cohesive set.

Islam in Uzbekistan. HONOURS Great use of monochrome in this set. Moving from detail on the left into the grand architecture on the right gives the viewer a sense of the scale of the scene. Including the local people in the images gives us a sense of connection
