Left On The Beach. Intermediate. HIGHLY COMMENDED. A nice study of beach boulders showing the wonders of nature with fascinating formations. It’s a dull day, but raising the shadows might bring out some more details on the rocks.

Wasn’t Expecting That. Intermediate. MERIT. An action shot in the surf lifesaving competitions which provides plenty of drama. The large section of water at the front might have been better cropped off.

Jean and Fluffy. Intermediate. MERIT A beautiful young girl shows off her very aptly named cat, Fluffy. She is nicely engaged with the photographer and the lighting is flattering. The seat back on the bottom right may have been better to be cloned or cropped out.

Northern Dotterel. Salon. HONOURS. Another fabulous shot of a northern dotterel, with its lunch sorted. The image shows off the wonderful colours in this bird’s feathers. These are notoriously difficult to photograph as they are so skittish.

Texting Allah. Salon. HONOURS. Modern technology against a backdrop of a grand monument. The juxtaposition is striking in the story of this wonderful image, which is nicely seen and looks great in monotone as well because the play of light on the patterns behind is lovely.
